I'm stunned at the places you tend to find sun hardware ... in major banks, running evil corporations that mutate monkeys into something evil. Sometimes I have to ask myself am I working for a good company or have I been lulled into a false sense of safety by our cool and groovy features for making the typical Evil Genius' program to control genomes run up to 50% faster, with added bling (dtrace), Or to encapsulate their servers into virtual containers so a lone hacker can't take over the entire network (zones), of the ability to make sure that every byte of data that is stored in system is summed, checksummed and cross-checked (DynFS I think) in case an explosion damages some of your storage devices.
Yes, Sun Microsystems... we put the 'Evil Genius' into Far Cry :)

Straight from popbitch:
A German couple who went to a fertility clinic after eight years of marriage have found out why they are still childless - they weren't having sex. The University Clinic of Lubek said "We are not talking retarded people here, but a couple who were brought up in a religious environment."
dear god are these people completely dumb?
(still waiting for a machine to reboot).
the linux kernel mailing list isn't terribly spam-heavy (or at least that's what my filter tells me). Today, however some twat had spammed it with an ad for the 'cheapest oem software' going -- namely it was an advert for one of those fine Microsoft products. I know that most of the addresses are reaped from some database, but this one particularly shone as to their lack of intelligence. Sometimes I wonder, but then I stop because they're not worth the time.
I had planned on getting to town to get some coffee before the KTD at 6, but looking at the time - 4.30 that seems unlikely, it would take a minimum of 1/2 hour to get through town and then it only leaves me with an hour to get home and prepare. Looks like I'll be taking this call from my desk once more.
Joy of joys.
What is it with the coffee shop in the Business park, you'd swear they think they are the only folks in town. Their coffee is burned and bad. I've drank better instant and that's not saying much.
I only deigned to have the coffee because I ran out of my own stuff and I will have to say that they are just as bad now as they were several months ago. Maybe they need someone to tell them how to make it so that it isn't burned?
As it is it's cheaper to get the coffee on the bean from Gloria Jeans in town and grind and make it myself rather than drink the muck that they consider to be coffee. I must go in there today and get myself another couple of punds of the good stuff. that will keep me going for a couple of weeks at least and keep me from wanting to throw boiling water over the folks in the shop.
Someone recommended I check out some of the details about splinter cell 3. Based on the little review over in IGN, I am mightily impessed. In fact I'm scarily impressed. If this is going to be the quality of the game I so can't wait until it ships.
Ah well, back to work this line of green won't paint itself.
I've been using the font called 'proggy clean' for all my programming needs for the last while and find it a very capable font for editing programs. Everything is clear and easy to work with.
It came up today as it is a great typeface for use in LCD projector demonstrations. It's available from http://www.tactile3d.com/tristan/
I'm currently reading a book that was recommended to me on the course earlier during the week - it's called getting to yes, and it's about negotiating an agreement without giving in (so the title tells me). It's full of common sense advice, which is not surprising. Common sense advice seems to be the best kind of advice.
I have a course all the mondays of this week. It's a complete disaster for me because it means that I have to get to the office before 9am. I never manage to make it into the office before 9 normally, 9.15 is my time.
That said, I need to hit the shower now or I will be late. C'est la vie.
I had some seafood last night. I need to be careful when I have it, though. I'm not supposed to eat shellfish - I get violently ill. Well last night there were some mystery spring rolls, and it turns out that they were laced with shrimp.
I did not have a good night's sleep last night.
Of course it would have to happen. Light clothes attract the most stain causing materia on the planet. Today it's tan pants and a mocha. Laundry time again.
Well I went to see Violent Vemmes again. I swear it's becoming a habit with me. I've been to see them three times in Dublin in the last while. They seem to just keep coming back. It was a change form the last time I saw them. They skipped out on all their newer pieces in favor of the old reliables. It was fun and bouncy and it looked like everyone loved it.
I'm going to try to get a ticket for the Barenaked Ladies on Tuesday. Will I won't I?
